New Books

I've always LOVED Sidney Sheldon's books. I'm not a hopeless romantic, but I do like a little romance in books that I read. Not until the whole book is about romance, and merely about how the girl is waiting for love and so on and so forth.(Something like Judith McNaught ;p) Boring!!

But too bad Sidney Sheldon passed away early this year, so I can never read anymore new books from him, (his last book was "Are You Afraid Of The Dark?") so I've decided to try reading work from some other authors. I've always been a fan of fiction, but I can read non-fictional stories too (after all blogging is almost always non-fictional, and I always enjoy blog-hopping), so I went around MPH Wangsa Maju that day trying to find a book that I might like (despite feeling guilty because I haven't been reading my medicine books that much, and I have the time to think about reading other books) and I stumbled upon books at the NEW section. The title of that one book really caught my eye, "HONK! If you're Malaysian". I picked up the book, browsed through a few pages, and realized it's not that bad (considering I'm just browsing through it) and because of the spirit of Merdeka and Malaysia Boleh, I decided to buy that book written by Lydia Teh (if I'm not wrong), and give it a try. I haven't started reading it yet by the way.

Then as I was about to proceed to the cashier to pay for this book and also the September issue of CLEO's magazine, a book at the corner of the NEW section caught my eye. The front cover shows a little boy in a white kopiah (and the picture was in black and white by the way) and 2 big circles in red and yellow stating the title of the book and the name of the author. It is the "I AM MUSLIM " by Dina Zaman. I decided to buy that book too, (even though not browsing through it) and then proceeded to the cashier. This is because I've heard some of my friends recommend that book to muslims who are trying to find themselves. After reading about 2/3 the I AM MUSLIM book, I realized they were right. I couldn't help but want to know what is written in that book, (couldn't put it down!!) and I could actually relate to some of the articles in it. It definitely is an eye-opener, and I'd recommend it to everyone who wants to know more about ISLAM, muslim or non-muslim. Currently I'm still trying to finish reading it, and hopefully I can start on Lydia's work soon.

I guess Harry Potter 7 could wait another few months. :D

All the 3's...

May has been a much awaited month for movie lovers, like me. There's all sorts of movies coming out, and some that I've been waiting for almost a year! So like the other movie lovers or cinema goers out there, I watched all the 3's,

a) Spiderman 3
b) Pirates of the Caribbean 3 : At World's End

c) Shrek 3

How do I actually rate them? Well for Spiderman 3 and Pirates 3, both are 3 hours long. (Another 3!!!) And I slept during those two movies. Doesn't that mean something?? ;p (But I always sleep in movies, and get a hell of a time from the people I go with because why bother paying around RM9 to sleep in an air-conditioned place while everyone is enjoying a movie right?) Well almost everyone will be enjoying the movie, while some others will be making a new movie in the cinemas :P haha! But I enjoyed every single minute of Shrek 3. It was great. I'd pay to watch it again. And again. And again. You get what I mean. :)

This will be my not-so-much-of-a-review on all the 3 movies.

p/s : I so love the line by Snow White in Shrek 3 " There's four.. no three super hot princesses, 1 pregnant ogre, 2 circus freaks and 1 old lady.. " -- another 3 in that sentence!! ;p

AF what??

My family has always been a fan of Akademi Fantasia (AF). I don't really mind watching the cute dudes singing their hearts out but I for one am not a voter. I am just a spectator, watching how these so-called young talents rise.

I've been following the concerts of AF since AF 1 to AF 4, watching the rise and fall of my favorites, always unhappy with the results. And the new AF5, seriously, I watched their first concert last saturday and there is no one that really caught my eye. There are one or two cute ladies, and one dude with a "tak jadik" afro do, but none with a really good voice, unlike the new American Idol, where I saw this one lady called Jordin, her voice is definitely breath taking.

This is one of the cute ladies in AF5, too bad she's already eliminated (btw she's Diya)

This one's cute too

Mr Afro-tak-jadik

yang ni lagi satu eye-candy.. a.k.a Amirul of AF5

Jordin Sparks, American Idol 6 contestant

So this is who I think should win in the past AFs

AF1 : Vince (no doubt la, dah la can sing so well, so good looking, and always putting a twist in his songs.. besides, yang lain2 tu so hampeh)

Bob --> oklah this is not his best picture :P

Kaer -> he looks so young and innocent here heh..

AF2 : Bob (because of his great voice and variety in singing) / Kaer (his voice is great too)

Elliza, eye-candy for AF3

AF3 : anyone else except Mawi or Felix (this AF is so unfair because the actually "serap balik" some students who were rejected from the start)

Velvet

Amirul.. comei nyer!!! :P

AF4 : Velvet (I think she was one of the greater singers from the start, and Faizal won because his father voted for him --> admitted by his father who actually had to borrow money from some Ah Longs to vote for Faizal, but Amirul was sure an eye-candy :P)

She's hot, she sounds good and she looks great in this type of tudung.. what more do you want?? :P

AF5 : no one really deserves to win the car and the house, but maybe this girl in the tudung (Heliza) has a shot, she's the better of the lot, having the looks, voice and stage presence.. if she doesn't win, maybe the afro dude could win :P
